A coalition of high-profile business leaders is backing a new ballot initiative that aims to modify Oregon’s controversial Measure 110 by re-criminalizing possession of hard drugs.
M110, approved by voters in 2020, decriminalized possession of small amounts of such drugs as fentanyl and methamphetamine. Since then, overdose deaths in Oregon have soared and open drug use has been common in downtown Portland and elsewhere in the city, which some have argued is tied to decriminalization.
