Oregon House Republicans are proposing three measures to fix or reverse part of Measure 110, the voter-approved drug decriminalization law passed in 2020.

One bill would refer Measure 110 back to voters. Another would recriminalize possession of hard drugs, including heroin and meth, while maintaining the measure’s funding stream for treatment and recovery services. Yet another would restore the penalties for drug possession to what they were before Measure 110 created a Class E violation.

The proposals, which could be taken up in the Legislature’s short session in February, come amid increased scrutiny and heated debate around the effects of decriminalization.
